A Personal Poem on The Future
I am a young man,
filled with dreams, ideas, yet without a plan,
but for some reason, I do understand
The Future has something planned for me in advance.
The Future rises inside me, an orb formed an urgent soul,
But an orb is powerful, that I could not take control.
But after 16 years, I began to unroll,
the orb and the soul, only to find a Personal Future Scroll.
I wonder, “What does the Scroll have to say?”
In big, bold letters it says: “Carlitos, It’s time to pay, pay, pay”…
Pay what? All I have done in my life was play, play, play.
“You, Carlitos, must pay your future a new world, a new self, a New Day!”
What New Day? I do not have any special talent to change My Future.
“Simple. You must become your own teacher, your Own Tutor.”
That’s too hard. I wonder if the future will arrive much sooner…
“Carlos. Carlos. Carlos. Your mind is making a huge brain blooper.”
“Carlos. I want you to see the future as a treasure,”
“It consumes your mind forever,”
“Seeking on your individual endeavor,”
“But at least the world is in this dream. Together.”
“If you did not know, Carlitos. The change will start somewhere.”
“It could be in politics, climate change, technology, or maybe even healthcare.”
“But I want you to be aware,”
“That the disruption and dreams you seek will not come from thin air.”
So what can I do? Is my obligation to just pursue
a normal life or the unconventional dream? I do, however, have a clue
that I graduate high school until the year two-thousand and twenty-two…
But why should I wait? It’s time to make my official Debut!
Time is still on my side. Tear the roof off and break out of the cage.
Too many problems, I need to create a plan for change.
Boo me if you want, I don’t give a damn if I am doing this at a young age,
Time to write the future on a clean, blank page. Join me onstage.
